This table shows the percent change in wages and salaries from 1980 to 2004 for private industry workers overall as well as for white-collar and blue-collar occupations specifically. Wages grew fastest in the early 1980s for all groups before declining in the early 1990s and growing again steadily in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with blue-collar wages often increasing at a faster rate than white-collar wages.
