Interjections are short exclamations used to demonstrate emotion that have no grammatical value. When used in sentences, they have no grammatical connection. An interjection is sometimes followed by an exclamation point when written. Examples of common interjections include "Ah", "Dear", "Hey", "Hmm", "Uh-huh", "Duh", "Ouch", and "Hello" which are used to express meanings like resignation, pity, calling attention, hesitation, agreement, obviousness, pain, and surprise.
