As this statement is a very important part of the selection process, you should give very
careful consideration to your response. Please address the following issues:
• Describe your background, and reasons why you have not undertaken university studies in the
past.
• State your proposed area of study, reasons for selecting it and how you will combine the
demands of university study with your other commitments. Please refer to the 2010 Handbook
of Undergraduate Studies.
• Give any information about your personal abilities, skills, achievements, experiences and
interests that you feel might be relevant to your application.
