This document provides instructions for configuring a Zyxel router in different modes: 1. Always on (PPPOE) mode which uses the username and password from the ISP. 2. Static IP in routing mode for either a Siemens or Ericsson/UT Star DSLAM by entering the public IP address. 3. Static IP in bridging mode to configure IP addresses on connected devices when hosting services remotely.

To Configure Zyxel Router.

Different types of router configuration

1- Always on ( PPPOE) mode.

2- Static IP in routing mode.

a) Siemens DSLAM.
b) Ericsson/ UT Star DSLAM.

3-Static IP in bridging mode( when ip address is required to


be configured in PC so that it can be accessed from remote
location. Hosting of web server/mail server etc)
To open Router interface Type Http://192.168.1.1 in browser.
User Name : Admin Password : 1234
Ignore this window
( A new password can be inserted if you want to change router management
password)
Go to wizard setup
Select the PPPOE. ( This option can be selected when we want username &
password provided by ISP to be used in Router & configured in always ON mode.)
Type user name and password
Click on save setting
A Self test page will appear with results.
Static IP in Routing Mode on Siemens
site.
To open Router interface Type Http://192.168.1.1 in browser.
User Name : Admin Password : 1234
Ignore this window
( A new password can be inserted if you want to change router management

Go to wizard setup
Select Routing and click next.
(Keep Encapsulation as RFC1483 only)
Type Public IP and click next.
Click on save setting
A Self test page will appear with results.
Static IP in Routing Mode on
Ericsson/ UT Star site.
To open Router interface Type Http://192.168.1.1 in browser.
User Name : Admin Password : 1234

Go to wizard setup
Select Routing and click next.
(Keep Encapsulation as Enet Encap )
Type Static IP ,Subnet Mask,
Default Gateway and click next.
Click on save setting
A Self test page will appear with results.
Static IP in Bridging Mode.
( When IP address is to be configured on computer so that it can be accessed remotely e.g. Hosting
of Web server, exchange server)

Note: Bridging Mode will only be provided to customer is he is running some application which requires IP on machine/device.
To open Router interface Type Http://192.168.1.1 in browser.
User Name : Admin Password : 1234

Select Bridging and click next
Click on Save settings.
A Self test page will appear with results.
