To factory reset a PALO ALTO device via the management and console port, you press "m" during boot to access the maintenance partition. From there, you select "factory reset" and enter the password "MA1NT" to reset the device to factory defaults. Once reset, the default username and password will be "admin/admin". You can also reset via the console port by logging in and entering the command "request restart system".

How do I reset the PALO ALTO to factory default via management

and console port.

Press "m" to boot to the maintenance partition.

To factory reset the device, you will need to use cli:

1. repower device, monitor the boot sequence for the following message:
"Autoboot to default partition in 3 seconds.
2. Select m to boot to maintenance partition
3. From the maint partition select 'factory reset".
4. At this point you will be prompted for a password, enter "MA1NT"
6. You must allow the device to complete the boot sequence

Select "Factory Reset" and enter.

Select any version other than 3.0.6 and "Factory Reset", then enter.
Note: Do Not choose the scrub option unless instructed to do so. It will
wipe out all data including the PANOS and will require the RMA of the
device. Scrubbing will sanitize all sensitive configuration and log data that is
stored on the hard disk (this data is not stored elsewhere on the firewall).

(Note: Once you do that, the default username / password will be: admin /
admin)

Reset the device from the console port by logging in and entering command
"request restart system".

Reboot the device and monitor the boot sequence for the message "Autoboot
to default partition in 4 seconds".
