2010 Florida AAU Girls Basketball District Qualifier Rules

1. Please plan to arrive at team check-in 1 Hour before you play your first game at
your game site:
You will need each player’s birth certificate and AAU card. This is a Florida AAU Sanctioned Event,
therefore; each player and coach must be AAU Members.

You will be required to sign your roster prior to participating. Please note the new Age Verification
Rule:
Birth Certificate (Record) Challenge
In lieu of turning in birth certificates and/or grade exception forms (if applicable) at each tournament, AAU Girls
Basketball is instituting the Birth Certificate Challenge system. Approved birth records* and/or grade exception forms
(if applicable) must be carried to every game. If the opposing coach challenges the age of any players, the challenged
coach must produce the birth certificate of those players before they can play in the game. If challenged players’ birth
certificates cannot be produced, they cannot play in that game until they are provided. If birth certificates are
produced at any point in the game, they are then eligible to participate. If there are not 5 players eligible to start a
game, the game will be declared a forfeit.
Hospital Records are not an acceptable form of birth certification.
*a. A certified copy of birth record from the State, County or Municipal Bureau of Vital Statistics in the place of birth
*b. A certified copy of the delayed registration of birth, if the athlete’s birth was not recorded on her day of birth,

5. Mercy Rule

In the 8/u to 13/u and 4th Grade thru 8th grade District Championship Tournaments, a running clock will be used in
the second half when a team is behind by 30 or more points. Regular rules will return if at any time the spread falls
below 30 points. The losing coach may opt to ignore this rule at any time.

Penalty for breaking the rule is a warning first and second is an administrative technical foul.
If the rule is broken again, the technical foul goes to the coach.

6. Tie Breaker:

If 2 teams are tied, the first tie breaker is head to head.

If 3 or more teams are tied, first remove the team not involved in the tie, then the first tie breaker will be
point differential, to a maximum of 15 points per game. If 3 or more teams are still tied, the tie breaker
will be the total number of defensive points allowed in pool games. If 3 or more teams are still tied, the
higher seed coming into the tournament will be the pool winner. After a pool winner is determined, return
to the 2 team tie breaker for the remaining two teams.

8 If a team forfeits a pool game, they may not advance. They will be permitted to play their 3rd game (which
may be the 1st game in bracket play) however, they may not continue in the tournament.

9 Awards will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers. Third place will be awarded based upon the
point differential, to a maximum of 15 points, of the semi-final game only. If tied, the team with the
lowest defensive points allowed in that game. If still tied, the teams overall record. If still tied, the teams
seed coming into bracket play.

Please show your Photo ID and you hand will be stamped for the day. Failure to identify yourself
will result in paying the daily rate.

the head coach. A fee of $100 cash (refunded if protest is upheld) must accompany the protest. The
written protest must be submitted to the Tournament Director at the site. All decisions by the protest
committee are final.

** If any coach or player is ejected, they are out of that game and the next game. If a spectator is ejected
from the gym for disorderly conduct, the ejected spectator must leave with their player on the team. If a
