Physics Curriculum

The physics curriculum document outlines a year-long introductory physics course covering topics like mechanics, thermodynamics, waves, electricity, and modern physics. Student assessment will be based on homework, quizzes, labs, tests, and a final exam, each accounting for a percentage of the final grade. Classroom expectations require students to attend on time, behave maturely, be respectful of others and materials, take responsibility for their work, come prepared, and act honestly.

Physics

Curriculum

Welcome to Physics!
The purpose of this course is to explore and investigate the classical laws governing the physical
universe. Students will examine and seek to explain various physical phenomena, based on these
fundamental laws. Below is a list of topics to be covered throughout the academic year.
1. Mechanics (how and why things move)
2. Thermodynamics (how heat and energy behave)
3. Waves and optics (the propagation of energy)
4. Electricity (individual charged particles acting together)
5. Magnetism (the accompanying phenomena to electricity)
6. Modern Physics (basis of quantum theory, wave particle duality)

Assessment

Final grades will be assigned to each student based on five criteria. They are listed with their
respective value below. No single component will provide a student with a passing grade!
