Calculate the necessary data for setting out the curve by
Rankines’s methods of tangential angle. Theodolite has a
least count of 20 ". Tabulate the actual readings of deflection
angles to be set out.
Data : Tangent intersect at chainage 59+60.
Deflection Angle = 50º30'.
R = 15 chain
Peg Interval = 100 links
Length of chain = 20 meters ( 100 links)
Solution
We know from Rankeen’s
Δ1= δ1 = c1D/40
Δn-1= c1D/40 + (n-2)D/2 [Δ2, Δ3, Δ4, up to Δn-1]
Δn= Δn-1+ δn = c1D/40 + (n-2)D/2+ cnD/40
But we do not know Deg of curve D. So we have to use the following
formula:
δ = 1718.9 c/R
