PLANNING

the project. They allow you to identify all the tasks needed to
complete the project, to determine how much time each task
might take, and to generate a time-and-task chart. Also, they
help you keep track of your progress and determine how to
reallocate your resources to complete the project on time or
within budget.

can plan time for completing writing projects. These are
merely annotated electronic calendars. Excellent for
scheduling writing tasks. They will remind us of tasks to
complete and days remaining before a document needs to be
completed

Shows that today’s spreadsheet programs can analyze data in many ways. They help
writers make sense of raw data so that they can interpret it clearly for their readers.

our messages.
Voice Recognition-free the writer from keying messages.
Spelling Checker-supplement proofreading but do not replace it.

This writing tool, the grammar checker, is one that is continuously improving.
However, it is still a suggest system. A writer must decide whether to follow
its suggestions and determine how to implement them best.
 
Illustrates a version of the Collegiate Merriam-Webster electronic dictionary – a
reference tool. With multitasking and dedicated toolbars, writers can now easily
switch between word processing and reference programs.
Shows some of the SmartArt options writers can use to complement
graphically their writing.

Today you can present your document in print or electronic


form.

For print publications one can use desktop publishing soft


wares or word processing soft wares.

For electronic publications, you also can use these programs to


generate files in hypertext markup language of portable
documents file format. In addition to text and graphics an
electronic document can contain links, audio and video
elements also.
Tools for Transmitting a message
 
A video conference (also known as a videoteleconference) is a set of
interactive telecommunication technologies which allow two or
more locations to interact via two-way video and audio
transmissions simultaneously. It has also been called 'visual
collaboration' and is a type of groupware. Videoconferencing differs
from videophone calls in that it's designed to serve a conference
rather than individuals.

A fax (short for facsimile) is a document sent over a telephone line.

Electronic mail, most commonly abbreviated email or e-mail, is a


method of exchanging digital messages.

Asynchronous Tools

Asynchronous is any learning event where interaction occurs


intermittently with a time delay. This allows learners to participate
according to their schedule, and be geographically separate from
the instructor.

E-mails
 The most popular and easiest used communication tool is e-mail.

Discussion Boards
 Even though discussion boards are not simultaneous, they can be
interactive.
Synchronous Tools
Internet Chat:
There are many public chat rooms including instant messaging
that can be used to conduct sessions.

Web Meeting:
Web Meeting is a synchronous whiteboard combination with
many features that are helpful . While the users are typing in
the keyboard chat, they have a whiteboard available to draw on
or use as a board for projecting applications from their
computer screens or sharing what is on the computer for
participants.
Net Meeting:
Net Meeting is a free product that "delivers a complete conferencing
solution for all Windows users with multi-point date conferencing, text
chat, whiteboard, and file transfer, as well as point-to-point audio and
video.

Web Board: 
Web Board has synchronous chat rooms within its secure system which
are transcripted. A whiteboard opens at the same time to allow writing
with math, accounting and chemistry notations or drawing. 

Video Conferencing:
Basically, a video conference system has audiovisual equipment
(monitor, camera, microphone, and speaker) as well as a means of
transmitting information between sites.
Future developments expect to integrate present
technologies more smoothly, making them easier to
use. Digital convergence will provide the vehicle for
bringing us on-demand transactions, Future
developments will likely mean more need for good
basic communication skills.
