…those songs that are to be sung by the

of the Holy Eucharist or the Holy Mass
First, we must know the
four basic parts of the
Mass…
 (a) Introductory Rite,
 (b) Liturgy of the
Word,
 (c) Liturgy of the
Eucharist, and
 (d) Concluding Rite.
(a) INTRODUCTORY RITE

(Lord have
mercy)
 Gloria (Only on Sundays
of ordinary time, Solemnities
and Special Feast Days)
(b) LITURGY OF THE WORD
 Responsorial
Psalm (at
least the
Response)
 Alleluia (also
called Gospel
acclamation)
(c) LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

 Song for the Presentation of

the Gifts (Offertory Hymn)
 Sanctus
 Anamnesis (Memorial Acclamation)
 Great Amen
 The Lord’s Prayer
 Lamb of God (Agnus Dei)
 Communion Hymn
(d) CONCLUDING RITE
 This part is optional: either

 Playing of instrumental
music is already enough

CONCLUSION

 In Liturgical Celebrations, music is only the

means, not an end…
 In other words, the highlight is not the music
but the Liturgical celebration itself. It only
aids in the conscious participation of the
entire assembly and must not take the
spotlight from it.
