Genetics Problems

This document contains 3 sections of genetics problems asking the student to: 1) Indicate whether genotypes are heterozygous or homozygous. 2) Determine possible phenotypes for given genotypes. 3) List genotypes for given phenotypes. The student is asked to analyze dominance relationships for traits such as flower color, eye color, seed shape, tail length in cats, hair texture, and head shape.

III. For each phenotype below, list the genotypes.

Note: Generally, you would use the first letter of the dominant trait as “upper case”, and then
use the same letter to represent the recessive trait (in “lower case”) – unless it is too difficult
to distinguish between that the letter’s upper and lower case.

Straight hair is dominant to curly hair. Pointed heads are dominant to round heads.
