Speller Effect Sign Display

This circuit uses a CD4017 decade counter and 9 transistors connected in series to produce a "speller effect" light display. When the output of the CD4017 goes high, the corresponding transistor turns off, causing the outputs of the following transistors to also turn off and light up the corresponding character. This process repeats for each output, causing the characters to light up sequentially like a speller. A 555 timer chip produces the clock signal to trigger the CD4017 counter and control the switching speed.
