Installation of Oracle 10g RDBMS Software for SAP Systems

 Logon as operating system user Administrator on the server where the SAP system needs to be installed.
The local Administrator account of the server should be used and not the domain Administrator.

 Copy the required software media to the local drive of the server on which installation is to take place.
 Run the command file sapserver.cmd from the RDBMS installation media.
 You would then be prompted for the drive into which Oracle RDBMS is to be installed. Select the drive O:\
 Next, the SID of the oracle instance would be prompted. Enter the 3-character SID.
Press enter to continue.
 Oracle Universal Installer(OUI( would then open.
 On the screen presented, click on the Install button. The Oracle RDBMS would then start installing.
 Finally, you would be presented with the screen below which indicates that the installation of the RDBMS
software is now complete.
You should then be able to see the installed files in the drive that you had indicated at location :
<Drive>:/oracle/<SID>/102. This path is referred to as the Oracle home.

Oracle Patchset Application:

 After installation of the Oracle RDBMS, we need to apply the patchset that is supported on SAP systems. As
of this writing, the supported patchset is 2. Before beginning the installation of the patchset, the service
Oracle<SID>iSQL*Plus needs to be stopped.
 The file setup.exe in the Oracle patchset software media for the relevant Operating system needs to be
run.
 The Oracle Universal Installer would then be opened.
 Click on the Next button to continue with the installation of the patchset.

 On the next screen, you need to select the correct Oracle home. The Oracle home should be the one that
you provided for the installation of the Oracle RDBMS software. The default home populated in this screen
should not be used.
 Click on the Next button to continue. You would be presented with the details of the components that
would be installed.
 Click on the Install button to continue.
 The above screen indicates that the patchset was successfully installed. You can exit from the installer by
clicking on the Exit button and confirming the prompts presented thereafter.
