3D Project Proposal
3D Project Proposal
Abstract
This paper presents a research proposal for 3D project: 3D Character. It addresses the
objective, software, target audience, and character.
1 Introduction
3D photography is the use of technology to capture the shape and appearance of real world
objects and reconstruct them in the digital world. The digitization of an object can be viewed
from novel viewpoints that may be difficult or impossible to achieve in the real world, and does
not require one to physically traverse great distances. Due to the detail and realism of the models
generated by this process, 3D photography has many practical applications and has been
employed across many different fields.
2 Project Objectives
The main objective of this project is to create 3D character using 3D character development
techniques. However, the same software could also be used by students to create 3D models for
use in class projects like LightWave 3D software. Such an software would allow them to quickly
and easily create the character and be able to concentrate on the more difficult parts of their
character. A general pipeline for create a 3D character consists modeling teqhniques. Modeling
technique will consist basic characteristic, lines, splines, geometric primitive, and sweeping.
The first stage in the simulation of a 3D scene with a computer is the conceptualization and
design of a 3D . The basic characteristic in modeling is shape, position, object size, colours and
textures, light, and a position of a camera.
2.2 Lines
Lines is used to define the shape of the object and many of its surfaces characteristics. Thev two
types of lines is straight and curves.
2.3 Splines
Splines are generated from a defining polygon. Another way to characterized splines are look at
their controls other than the control line and control point. Control points can control the
curvature or tension of a curve line mainly by how close they are to one another. Bezier curve
differs from the 3 splines mentioned here so far, mainly because it has tangent points in addition
to the control points.
2.4 Geometric Primitive
Geometric primitive is a collection of tools for creating simple shapes with a fix structure. It can
be used to represent simple shapes or can be used as the basis for more complex, composites
three dimensional shapes. Maybe modified on screen directly using mouse, trackball or
electronic pen or by typing the appropriate values in the dialog box.
2.5 Sweeping
Sweeping is the most powerful derivative modeling technique. It consist of defining 2D outline
that is swept along a predefined path. As outline is swept it defines a shape in 3D space. The
most popular sweeping techniques are extrusion, lathe or revolve, and free form sweep.
3 Software
Software that had been used for this project is LightWave 3D software. Lightwave is a popular
and easy to use choice that is widely used for video and television production around the world.
Lightwave includes a powerful polygonal modeler that also produces polygon-based subdivision
surfaces that Newtek calls "MetaNURBS".Even though the modeling lacks associativity, which
consequently makes some types of revisions much slower and does not allow many undo steps, it
does perform well, is simple to learn, and experienced users can get high-quality work done with
it. The animation still has a lot of catching up to do with Maya or Softimage, but is a workable
solution for the average company's animation needs. Lightwave's renderer is a well regarded
raytracer, which also includes Image Based Lighting and global illumination support.
Lightwave's renderer has been used for many commercials and TV programs. Very few of the
leading film studios use Lightwave, but it is often used by smaller companies contributing
opening title sequences, monitor screen graphics, and other smaller parts of a film's CGI.
4 Target Audience
The aim of this project is create a character that has the own characteristic. The 3D character that
will be created is based on the organic character. The character that will be created is Panda. The
target audience of this project is children between age 6-7. Commonly, this age of children love
the animation character. The learning process will be successful by using the 3D animation.
5 Character
The character that will be created is Panda. Panda is the animal that have their own physical
characteristic. In this 3D project, the Panda will be created to be a cute character. This is
important in way to achieve the goal and attract the target audience.
