Parts of speech

Parts of speech are divided according to their functions into nine parts.

1. Noun 2.Pronoun 3. Adjective 4. Adverb


5. Verb 6 preposition 7. Conjunction 8. Interjection 9. Article

1. Noun: “Noun” is the name of person, place and thing.


Ex: Mike, Bob, karti-parwan Book, pen.

2. Pronoun: “Pronoun” is a word that is used instead of noun in order to avoid the-
repetition of noun.

Ex: Mike is an intelligent student.


He is an intelligent student.

3. Adjective “Adjective” is a word that modifies the noun or pronoun.


Ex: She is a good teacher.

4. Adverb “Adverb” is a word that modifies the verb and another adverb on another hand-
it modifies the whole parts of speech without noun or pronoun.

Ex: She runs fast.

5. Verb “Verb” is a word that refers to the action or state of being.

Ex: we study English in NAI training center.
