Coordinate Graph Project

Students are asked to take a simple picture they created in class and map it onto a coordinate grid by placing dots at points where the picture crosses grid lines and recording the corresponding coordinates. They should then check that connecting the points reproduces the original picture. Finally, students should give their coordinate picture a punny name and can optionally color the final graph. Their work will be scored based on including the original sketch, a list of coordinates, accuracy of the graphed picture, and providing a title.

Coordinate Picture Project

Objective: Use the simple picture you created in class to create a coordinate picture.

1) Place dots where your picture crosses a point on the graph.

2) Determine the coordinates that correspond with the dots.

3) Record those points in groups to be connected (see class work/HW examples)

4) Check your points by graphing the coordinate groups to be sure the picture is correct**.

5) Give your picture a "punny" name (see class work/HW examples).

** You may color the final picture if you wish**

Coordinate Picture Rubric:

Yes (5) No (0)

Is the original sketch/picture attached?

Is the list of coordinates provided?

Do the coordinates match the final graphed picture?

Is the picture titled?
