Question:
How Does the Amount of Water in the 2 liter affects how far the Rocket travels?
Prediction:
If you fill the 20oz bottle up more it will go further to a certain point, because if you fill it up to
far there will not be enough air.
Data Table:
5 Controlled Variables:
1. 75 psi
2. angle of launch is 45º
3. 1000 ml in top
4. wing length
5. 3 wings
Materials:
1. 2 liter bottle
2. 20oz bottle
3. card board
4. scissors
5. duct tape
6.launch space
7.water
8.rocket launch
Procedure:
1.Gather materials
2.Duct tape the two bottoms of the bottles together
3.Cut out of the cardboard 3 wings size 6x8 right triangles
4.Duct Tape them on evenly around the bigger bottle
5.Measure out amount of water in top bottle and record it going by 100 ml intervals
7. Then screw the cap on smaller/top bottle
8.Go to launch space
9.Get rocket launcher ready
10.Angle it at 45 degrees
10.Measure out 1000ml of water and place it in the bottom bottle
11.Quickly place the Rocket on the launcher
12.Clamp the bottle on
13.Turn the Rocket launcher on
14.Wait till it is pumped up to 75psi
15.Pull string to release rocket
16.Measure how far it travels
17.Record Data
18.Repeat steps 10-17 for all your trials
19.Graph your data
20.Write a conclusion
Conclusion: We figured out that as we increased the amount of water on the top the distance decreased.
One day the wind was with us and another day the wind was against us which could have changed our
experiment.
