Experimental Design Diagrams

The document describes an experiment to test how wing placement affects the distance a model rocket flies. It includes: 1) A question about how far a plane will fly with different wing placements. 2) A prediction that changing the wing position will result in a shorter flight, due to less air flow. 3) A data table showing the control rocket with wings 40cm from the bottom flew farther on average (49.5m) than ones with wings 30cm (20m) or 40cm (7.5m) from the bottom.

A. State your question

How far will the plane fly if I change the wing placement
B. Make a prediction showing what you think will happen in the experiment.
If we change the position of the wings, then the spaceship will fly shorter because there will be not
enough air flow or something

C. List 5 influential controlled variables.

Same Launcher, Same amount of water in the bottles, Same sized bottles, Same duct tape holding it
down, WING SIZE
D. List the materials needed for the experiment.
2 Liter Bottle, 20 Ounce Bottle, Duct Tape, Water, Cardboard, Rocket Launcher
E. Write out a step-by-step procedure for carrying out the experiment.
Make rocket out of bottles and duct tape
attach wings
make sure everything is a at the controlled variables.
Fill with water
launch
F. Write a conclusion.

yes I thought that the controlled would go the farthest. Because it was at the best position and on the
bottom like nasa's spaceships. If I could do a differen't thing it would to be to chose a different
variable. And maybe have different wing placements.
