aan oO HOW TO MODE AND DEsIEW) HIGH RISE BUILDING FO? FORT OQOUSF 3 WD LOS i im ne a PROGRAM center Leaf Training <7 Development (7-20 December 206 December 206 Introduction This course introduce You to ETABS Version 8 + The step-by-step instruction guide you though development of your first, model «The intent is to demonstrate the fundamentals and show how quickly and easily a model can be created using this program | hope you enjoy your first experience with ETABS Overview of the program + ETABS ida stand-a lone finite-clements-based structural analysis program with special purpose feature for structural design and analysis of building systems Fundamental concept + ETABS works off of an integrated database. The basic concept is that you create only one model consisting of the floor system and the vertical and lateral framing systems to analyze and design the whole building. Every thing you need is integrated into one versatile analysis and design system with one user interface. «There are no external modules to maintain and no worries about data transfer between modules. + The effects on one part of the structure from changes in another part are instantaneous and automatic. Data Sharing with other Software Programs * Awide variety of export options allow you to transfer information from the ETABS database for use with other software package .Some uses of these export options, among others, are © Framing plans and elevations using AutoCAD © Foundation and slab analysis using SAFE ‘© Information for detailing packages using CIS/2 Step files. Each step of the model creation process is identified, and various modal construction techniques are introduced. At the completion of this Example, You will have built the model shown in figure g op? ¢ g L 229998 The Example Project | * The example project is a tower 40 story building. The first story is 4.2m high and the another stories is 3.4m high | ‘+ The lateral force resisting system consists of 8 Shear walls,4L shear walls, and 1 core wall + The plans of the tower floors as shown blow oF ® “—T oil} = From level 1 to level 23 Note: the slab thickness of level 23 is 300 mm Hele. ee From level 24 to level 39 Level 40 Step 1: Begin anew model In this step, the dimensions and story height are set. 1. Check the units of the model in the drop-down box in the lower right-hand corner of the Etabs window , click the drop-down box to set the units to KN-m 2.
