p3 Science Summary Chapter 1 and 2

Our sense organs collect information from our surroundings through our five senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. The eye contains structures like the cornea, iris, pupil, lens, and retina that allow us to see. The ear is made up of the outer, middle, and inner sections which help us hear sounds. Our skin has inner and outer layers that provide protection and allow us to feel textures. The tongue and nose help with taste and smell. Our body systems work together to support movement, digest food, circulate blood, and remove waste. If one part of a system fails, the whole system is affected.

4) There are three main parts to our ear :
a. Outer ear, made up of :
Pinna it collects sounds.
Ear canal it sends sounds into the middle ear.
b. Middle ear, made up of :
Eardrum the eardrum will shake or vibrate when there is a sound and it helps sound
reach the inner ear.
c. Inner ear, made up of :
Cochlea it sends messages to our brain to tell us about the sounds that we hear.

a. Outer layer the layer of skin that we can see and it prevents dirt from getting into our
body.
b. Inner layer it has structure that sends messages to our brain to tell us how the thing
feels.

16) Our digestive system helps us to break down the food we eat into substance that our body can
use.
17) Our respiratory system helps us to takes air into our body and removes air from our body.
18) Our circulatory system helps us to carry useful substances and the waste material in our body.
19) Our nervous system carries messages to and from different parts of our body.
