Nuclear Power Plant

A nuclear power plant generates electricity through nuclear reactions that occur within a reactor, which heat is then used to power steam turbines and generators. The largest plant is the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant in Japan with 7 reactors and a net capacity of nearly 8,000 MW. The world's first nuclear power plant to generate electricity for commercial use was the 5 MW Obninsk plant in Russia in 1954, while India's largest is the 1400 MW Tarapur plant in Maharashtra.

A nuclear

power plant is a type of power station that generates electricity using heat from nuclearreactions. These reactions take place
within a reactor. The plant also has machines which remove heat from the reactor to operate a steam turbine and generator to
make electricity.

Biggest nuclear power plant

Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s (TEPCO) Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant in Japan is currently the world's largest nuclear power
plant, with a net capacity of 7,965MW.Kashiwazaki-Kariwa has seven boiling water reactors (BWR) with a gross installed
capacity of 8,212MW.

First nuclear power plant

On June 26, 1954, at Obninsk, Russia, the nuclear power plant APS-1 with a net electrical output of 5 MW was connected to the
power grid, the world's first nuclear power plant that generated electricity for commercial use.

First nuclear power plant in India

With a total capacity of 1400 MW, Tarapur, Maharashtra is the largest nuclear power station in India. The facility is operated by
the NPCIL (Nuclear Power Corporation of India).
