The software which monitors the basic

activities of a system is called system


software.

Operating system
Operating system is a set of programs which

manages the resources of the computer, and


controls program execution.
It interface between the user and the
hardware of the computer.

Application software
The software which is used for specific

application is called application software.

Virus
Virus ( vital information resource under seize)

is software used to infect a computer. A virus


is an application with the ability of multiplying
itself, which can cause great danger and
damage to files or other software on the
same machine.

Description
The process of decoding data that has been

encripted into a secret format is called


description.
Description requires a secret key or a
passwoard.

Assembler
An assembler is used to convert the program

written in assembly language into machine


language.

Compiler
Compiler translate a source program that is

usually written in a high level language by a


programmer into machine language.

Interpreter
Interpreter translates each source program

staement into a sequence of machine


instruction and then executes these machine
instruction into the next source of the
language statement.
