How To Reach IIT Bombay

There are several ways to reach IIT Bombay by public transportation from various parts of Mumbai. From Western Railway, one can take buses from Andheri, Borivali, Bandra, and Mumbai Central stations. From Central Railway, trains can be taken from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Dadar, and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus stations to Kanjurmarg station and then an auto rickshaw to IIT Bombay. Taxis or auto rickshaws can also be taken directly from the international and domestic airports for around Rs. 200-250.

HOW TO REACH IIT BOMBAY

I] Western Railway
A] Andheri
i) Get off at Andheri.
ii) Go to Andheri (East)
iii) Take one of the following buses: - 496ltd, 445ltd, 392, 185, 336 545ltd, 396, AS 422(AC bus)

Notes:- Ask for ticket to IIT Main gate. It is approx. Rs 18 for normal buses and Rs 50 for AC buses. Also these buses
are crowded during rush hours (8am-11am & 5:30 pm to 7 pm).Auto rickshaws are not recommended.
B] Borivali
i) Go to Borivali (East) bus stop outside the station.
ii) Take one of the following buses: 489ltd, 478ltd, 524ltd, AS 524(don't confuse the two!!!!!).

C] Bandra
Take western railway for Dadar. Cross over to Dadar (Central Line) station using the foot over bridge (you need not
leave the station premises for this) and take a Central Line "slow" suburban train going towards
Thane/Kalyan/Dombivali from Platform 1/2. You can purchase a combined ticket for the 2 phases at the ticket
counter. Get down at Kanjurmarg Railway station. Take an auto from there. Approximate auto fare Rs 30.

D] Mumbai central terminus


Take any Western Line suburban train ("slow" or "fast") going towards Andheri/Borivali from Platform 1/3 and get
down at Dadar (Western Line) station. Cross over to Dadar (Central Line) station using the foot over bridge (you need
not leave the station premises for this) and take a Central Line "slow" suburban train going towards
Thane/Kalyan/Dombivali from Platform 1/2. You can purchase a combined ticket for the 2 phases at the ticket
counter. Get down at Kanjurmarg Railway station. Take an auto from there. Approximate auto fare Rs 30.

E] Dadar
Take a Central Line "slow" suburban train going towards Thane/Kalyan/Dombivali from Platform 1/2 and get down at
Kanjurmarg station. Take an auto from there. Approximate auto fare Rs 30.

II] Central Railway

A] Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus


Take a Central Line "slow" suburban train going towards Thane/Kalyan/Dombivali from Platform 3/4/5 and
get down at Kanjurmarg station. Take an auto from there. Approximate auto fare Rs 30.
B] Dadar
Take a Central Line "slow" suburban train going towards Thane/Kalyan/Dombivali from Platform 1/2 and get
down at Kanjurmarg station. Take an auto from there. Approximate auto fare Rs 30.
C] Lokamanya Tilak Terminus
Take auto for Vidyavihar Railway station. From Vidyavihar take the train to central line towards kanjurmarg.
Get down at kanjurmarg and take auto rickshaws towards IIT-Bombay with fare around 30 INR.
III] From International Airport
When coming from International airport, the auto fare would be roughly Rs. 200. One can also take a
prepaid taxi. The distance is around 10km.You can also take the 409ltd or 382ltd.
IV] From Domestic Airport
The distance of the National Airport from IITB is around 14 km. One can take the auto with fare roughly
around Rs. 250. Alternatively one can take the bus from Centur Hotel (bus no. 181 towards SEEPZ bus stop)
to Orke Mill and then take the bus (bus no. 307 towards Vaishali Nagar, Mulund) and reach to IIT Bombay
main gate.
