Metrology & Computer Aided Inspection

Metrology is the science of measurement and is mainly concerned with establishing measurement units and standards, developing measurement methods, and analyzing measurement accuracy. Engineering metrology has major applications in inspection to measure dimensional properties like length and angles, as well as geometrical properties like surface roughness and flatness. Inspection provides information on the quality of individual products and product lots, and the capability and accuracy of manufacturing processes and measurement methods. Measuring instruments are classified based on their functions such as length, angle, form deviation, and surface finish measurement.
