Forms of Assessment:
The various forms of assessment that I
use in the classroom are the following:
7 Principles of
Assessment
The Ontario Ministry of
Education provides seven
Principles of Assessment for
educators. These are in place
so that assessments for your
child are:
1. Fair, transparent and
equitable
2. Support all students
3. Carefully planned
4. Clearly explained to
students and parents at
the beginning of the
school year
5. Ongoing and varied,
and provide multiple
opportunities for
students to
demonstrate their
learning
6. Including feedback that
is clear, meaningful and
timely
7. Helping students to
become independent

The
Achievement
Chart:
The achievement chart provides
a way to organize the
knowledge and skills that
students need to demonstrate
into four broad categories of
knowledge and skills.
Classroom
Planning:
Each subject has Curriculum
Documents that outline the
Overall Expectations, which are the
knowledge and skills that students
are expected to demonstrate by
the end of each subject.
Backwards
Design:
Backward design is the method of
design I use when planning my
units. Backwards design is the
process of beginning with the
objectives of a unit and what the
students are expected to learn.
From there I work backwards to
create lessons and assessments
that achieve those desired goals.
