Using the Export Data to CSV function in DDEC Reports

This section is from DDEC Reports Help on how to use the new Export Data selection.
CSV stands for comma-separated-values. Data must be arranged in this format in order to be read in some
other programs, e.g., Excel. Files extracted directly to your PC (.xtr) are simultaneously converted and
stored in a file named exp_dp.csv. This file is stored in the folder, c:\Detroit Diesel\Diagnostic\Report.
These files can be opened in your spreadsheet program.
Caution: Do not use exp_dp.csv as a name for any file you create. Avoid using exp_ as the first four
characters in any filename you create. To do so may cause files to be overwritten and data to be lost
permanently.
Some files imported to your PC, such as through Remote Data Interface, may not have associated .csv files.
For analysis by spreadsheet, you can create .csv files in DDEC Reports. To generate a .csv file from a .xtr
file residing on your PC, follow these next steps after navigating to the primary window. The .xtr file is not
altered by this procedure.

1. Click on Tools on the primary window menu bar and Export Data to CSV on the pull-down menu. This
opens the following dialog box.

2. Accept or edit the Source Folder path.

3. Accept or edit the Target path and filename. The default filename is report.csv.

4. Click on the Export button. A window similar to that shown below appears.

5.

Select the file to be converted. Select all of them if desired by clicking on the Select All button.

6.

Click on the Export button.

The filename is removed from the list. Exported data is saved in report.csv (if you accepted the default
filename). Subsequent exports by this method are added to the report.csv file.

7. The .csv file created appears as specified in the Target folder named. Open the new .csv file with your
spreadsheet program. It should contain data from all the files chosen.
