Kate is a teenage girl who has an active imagination. She often gets lost in her thoughts and imagines fictional scenarios playing out around her, such as a boy being robbed or a woman chasing boys who overheard her phone call. However, these thoughts are just in Kate's head. In reality, her day consists of normal routines like taking the bus to school, attending classes, and going home. Kate wishes for more excitement in her life but it is revealed that her vivid imagination is what brings her excitement and escapism from everyday routines.

Miss Interpreted

SCENE 1
FADE IN:
EXT. HOME EARLY MORNING
An empty street is seen. The sun has just risen. The exterior of a
house is shown. The alarm of an iPhone is heard.
CUT:
INT. KATES BEDROOM MORNING
iPhone alarm going off on bedside table. Messy room with teddy
bears around. Girl lying on bed, surrounded by pillows.
KATE, teenager, brown hair, ordinary looking, high school student,
wearing pajamas, opens her eyes and groans. Kate reaches over to
grab her phone and switch off the alarm. Kate throws off blanket,
gets out of bed, and walks into bathroom.
INT. OUTSIDE BATHROM MORNING
Kate looking into mirror in bathroom, rubbing eyes. Kate closes door
and turns on the shower.
SCENE 2
INT. HALLWAY IN HOUSE MORNING
Kate coming downstairs. Kate walks into kitchen and picks up an
apple.
Kate walks towards main door and grabs her school bag.
KATE
Im leaving!
KATES MOTHER
(not in scene- calling out)
Have fun honey!
KATE
In school? Doubt it.

KATES MOTHER
You never know, something excited might happen!
Kate rolls eyes, opens door, steps outside and closes the door
behind her.
SCENE 3
EXT. STREET OUTSIDE HOUSE MORNING
School bus door opens and Kate gets on and walks towards a double
seat. Kate sits down, takes out her earphones from her bag, puts
down her bag, and plugs earphones into phone and starts listening
to music. Kates music is heard, the rest of the sound from the scene
is drowned out.
Bus doors begin to close. Boy runs up and gets onto the bus just in
time, panting, out of breath. Kate looks up to see this. Boy passes
Kate and makes his way to the back of the bus.
DISSOLVE IN:
SCENE 4
Kates thoughts:
EXT. DIFFERENT STREET MORNING
Boy getting stopped on the way to the bus stop- 2 masked men,
wearing all black, with guns ask him for his phone, money, etc. Boy
punches one man, starts running while the other man checks if first
man is okay.
JUMP CUT:
SCENE 5
Real life:
INT. SCHOOL BUS MORNING
Boy walks to the back of the bus to his friends.
BOYS FRIEND
Hey man, why are you late?
BOY
I overslept.

Meanwhile Kate does not hear this, she continues listening to music
and looks outside the window.
SCENE 6
EXT. SCHOOL DRIVEWAY MORNING
Kate getting off bus and walking towards the school.
SCENE 7
INT. SCHOOL, MATH CLASS 1ST PERIOD
Kate is sitting in the math classroom. The teacher is writing on the
board. Kate looks at clock: 9:50. The girl sitting next to Kate is
texting. Kate looks over at her phone.
Phone screen shows texts from Andrea. Phone conversation: Are
you okay? Andrea??? I saw your arms were all bruised up. Are you
there??
DISSOLVE IN:
SCENE 8
Kates thoughts:
INT. STORE AFTERNOON
Man, wearing all black, hood covering face, is acting suspicious:
walking around store, looking around. ANDREA starts spying on him.
Man drops some things on store shelf by accident, fumbles around,
and quickly walks out of the store. Andrea walks up to where the
man was standing, hears a bomb ticking, eyes widen, runs out of
the store. While shes running, she trips and falls.
JUMP CUT:
SCENE 9
Real life:
INT. MATH CLASS 1ST PERIOD
MATH TEACHER:
Kate! What do you think the answer is?

KATE:
(flustered, looking at the board for the first time)
Um 2?
Class laughs.
MATH TEACHER:
(sighs)
Anyone else?
Kate looks away from the girls phone and starts taking notes off the
board into her notebook.
Girl (sitting next to Kate) gets a text from Andrea: Yeah, volleyball
practice was intense.
SCENE 10
INT. CAFETERIA NOON
Kate sitting at a table with 3 friends. They are talking with each
other but Kate is playing with her food with a look of disgust on her
face.
Kate turns around to look towards the school kitchen door opening
and closing and the caterers go in and out with trolleys. She moves
her head to try to see behind the door.
DISSOLVE IN:
SCENE 11
Kates thoughts:
INT. CAFETERIA NOON
Getting closer and closer to the door. Bubbling sound coming from
behind school kitchen doors. Cats screeching and hissing are heard
before a splash and silence.
JUMP CUT:
SCENE 12
Real life:
INT. CAFETERIA NOON
KATES FRIEND

Hellooo? Are you okay??


KATE
(looks back towards friend)
Oh yeah sorry I just zoned out for a minute.
Friends carry on talking, this time with Kate also part of the
conversation.
SCENE 13
EXT. SCHOOL DRIVEWAY AFTERNOON
Kate walking out of school, towards school bus by herself after
school. Kids around her are laughing, talking, playing.
Boy chasing another boy across the driveway. They run past Kate.
DISSOLVE IN:
SCENE 14
Kates thoughts:
EXT. SCHOOL AFTERNOON
2 boys eavesdrop on a womans phone call.
MAN
(on phone)
Its done. I got rid of the body.
Boys accidentally step on leaves. Woman looks up and notices
them. Woman starts chasing them as the boys start running.
JUMP CUT:
SCEEN 15
Real life:
Boy chasing catches up to boy being chased and taps his on his
shoulder.
CHASER
Tag! Youre it!

SCENE 16
EXT. SCHOOL DRIVEWAY AFTERNOON
Kate reaches bus.
Kate gets into bus and sits in same seat as in the morning and takes
out earphones to listen to music and looks outside window. Bus
starts moving and exits school.
SCENE 17
EXT. STREET OUTSIDE HOUSE AFTERNOON
Kate gets off the bus and walks towards her house. She drops her
phone.
DISSOLVE IN:
SCENE 18
Kates thoughts:
EXT. STREET OUTSIDE HOUSE AFTERNOON
Phone screen is shattered
JUMP CUT:
SCENE 19
Real life:
EXT. STREET OUTSIDE HOUSE AFTERNOON
Kate picks up phone and looks at the screen. The screen is not
cracked. Kate sighs in relief. Kate walks into the house.
SCENE 20
INT. HOUSE AFTERNOON
KATE
Im home

KATES MOM
(calling out)
How was school?
KATE
Nothing exciting
Kate goes into her bedroom and closes door behind her.
Animal/jungle noises are heard.
FADE TO BLACK
