Point of View Lesson

Learning Activities:

1. Review what is point of view and essential questions? (Slide2)
-What is point of view?

-How does it help us as readers?


2. ASK: when finding point of view what are we looking for? (1st ,2nd, 3rd
person)
3. Go over 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person slides (slide 4, 5, 6) with definition and
pronouns (focus more on 1st person or 3rd person point of view)
4. Zooming in! What they have to do in order to find the point of view
(slide 7 and 8)
5. Get in small groups of 3- read short passage and identify its point of
view (5mins)
6. Come together and go over the different passages as a class and
identify correct point of view
7. Read Shared Read: How Mighty Kate Stop the Train page 238-241
8. Model point of view chart on page 243
9. Reread page 239 again and look for details

Small group instructionTask- On your own in your groups read the story Davy Crockett Saves
the World page 262-275 and do questions on page 277 Questions 1-4
