The key takeaways are that this document outlines site testing and commissioning procedures for busbar contact resistance testing of a 132kV system. It details responsibilities, purpose, required equipment, reference documentation, inspection characteristics and electrical test methods.

The purpose of this test is to ensure the busbar resistance is at a minimum and within specification in order to avoid high losses of power and also to ensure continuity and proper connection of each piece of the busbar.

The test equipment required includes a Micro Ohm Meter (MOM) or CPC 100 to measure the contact resistance.

Resistance Test is as follows:
Responsibility:
Commissioning Manager is responsible for the content of this instruction and the
Commissioning Engineer for its implementation.
Purpose:
This test aims to insure the busbar resistance is at minimum and within specification in order
to avoid high losses in power and also to insure the continuity and proper connection of each
and every piece of the busbar.
Test equipment:
Micro OHM Meter (MOM) or CPC 100

Decide the starting and ending points of the path to be tested

Start by injecting 100 A DC
Measure the voltage drop across the path
Use these readings to calculate Resistance by using ohms low
Note down these readings
Compare the calculated readings with the factory test report readings
Usually these values come in Micro Ohm.

Apply 5KV in each of the following combinations

R-G
Y-G
B-G
R-Y
R-B
Y-B
Readings must exceed 100 M ohm
