Sexuality

The term sexuality is related to but distinct from the terms sex and
gender. Sex is used to refer to the physical distinction between men and
women and gender is the social and cultural distinctions between men and
women.
The awareness of people on the sexual orientation aside from man and
woman has been present since the ancient time. The perception about
sexuality on the modern times has been shaped by the continuing debate on
whether sexual identity is a biological given, determined by genes or
anatomy, or is completely constructed in society and culture.
As the passage of time continues and everything changes, the
mentality about the sexuality of human beings has also changed. Modern
people now have surpassed the restriction of being labelled as man and
woman and identify their selves as part of the third sex which consist of gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgender.
As more people understand and accepts the contemporary
interpretation of sexuality, more intense questions about the morality of this
modern thinking has also developed. On top of the ones against this modern
thinking stands the Catholic Church. Though there is the notion of being
one base from the four marks of the church, opinions inside the church are
also divided. There are those who forcibly condemns the members LGBT
community and their actions and those who are open to possibilities and are
trying to understand the situation of the people coming from the third sex.
Despite of the more open and accepting society now, more people
have also been subjected to discrimination and bullying due to sexuality
issues. Cases of people being hurt form these bullying are also an eminent
matter. Concerns on the rights given to people based on their sex orientation
and sexual preference has also been a hot topic today. Movements fighting
and supporting for the equal rights of the women and members of the LGBT
are now very active.
Then again due to the hasty development on the issue on sexuality it
also lead to the misconception of people about equality and equity. People
claiming that they want equality but are really hoping for equity are very
vocal about their statements. Individuals called as feminazis has also taken
the attention of haters because of their bold yet ignorant proclamations.
