Normal, Stub, Totally Stub and NSSA Area Differences

This document compares different types of OSPF areas: normal areas have no restrictions, stub areas do not allow Type 5 external LSAs, totally stub areas only allow the default summary route and not Type 3, 4, or 5 LSAs, NSSA areas behave like stub areas for external LSAs but allow Type 7 LSAs to be translated to Type 5 LSAs at the NSSA border router, and NSSA totally stub areas are like totally stub but allow Type 7 to be translated to Type 5.
