From September to December, the teacher directs students in learning song material using notes A, B, and G. How to Learn a Song you must teach the steps to help them achieve
independence

If you are using an independent learning approach such as Recorder Karate, high
achieving students can go on to the 5th grade objectives.

Use alto and sopranino recorders
Do pieces that have recorders, Orff, and drums combined
Other Approaches
Some teachers dont do high D or low C until 5th grade.
Some teachers teach recorder by rote students play by ear rather than by
reading notation. They learn to experience the music before notating it.
