Chapter 2: Blood Circulation & Transport

P is an artery that carries oxygenated blood away from the heart to the lungs. Q is a vein that carries deoxygenated blood from the lungs back to the heart. The walls of the artery P are thicker than the vein Q because arteries need to withstand higher blood pressure when pumping blood away from the heart. R is the heart that pumps blood through the blood vessels to circulate resources to and from the lungs and throughout the body in the circulatory system.
