To conclude, students will present their websites to the class and write a 1 paragraph reflection on what they learned from the project. The goal is for students to understand the differences between the North and South during this time period.

LESSON GOAL(S)
5.US.2.3. Students are able to compare and contrast social, economic,
and philosophical differences between the North and the South.
LESSON OBJECTIVES
Students can list the differences between the North and South during the
civil war era.
Materials Needed:
Laptop

A. The Lesson

1. Introduction
Students will watch a 20 minute video about civil war. Spark their
interest, let them know we are going to have a little different assignment
and they should have some fun with it. Go to a website and ask them what
it is. (Going to be confused on what they are supposed to say) let them
know that they will be constructing their very own website.

2. Procedure (include adaptations and extensions for different needs of


learners)
Split the students up into groups of 2-3 show them the basics of
Weebly, provide a tutorial video that they can access at any point. Let
them know they are too research the effects of living in the north

compared to the south during the civil war. What were the economic
differences everyday life. They will be assigned either the north or the
south, they are to create a website of why people should be attracted to
either side. Will need to provide at least 5 advantages to live on either
side. At least 3 pictures. One video to show how life was lived.

3. Closure (providing students with opportunities to reflect and express


what they are learning)
Students will share their projects among the class.

Assessments (in introduction, lesson development, or summative


assessment)
(Assessment reflects the lesson objectives.)
Students will write a 1 paragraph reflection on how the assignment
went between partners and 2 things they learned that they did not know
before assignment.
