Daily routine activities

Times of day: morning, afternoon and night
Tell time- the hour
Articles of clothing
Simple present tense

In this unit, the learners are familiar with the daily routine activities. So, they knew
what are they doing from the morning until night. Each day, I gave the student's a
dictation to write down a sentence about the daily routine activities. This dictation
related to the teaching competency monitoring and assessment. That I gave the
student a transcription sheet to monitoring and assessing their understanding. I believe
that dictation is critical for students to memorize and remember the word or
sentence. According to Montalvan (1990), there are at least 20 advantages of
dictation, and the most important are dictation can help develop all four language
skills in an integrated way. In addition, they had a prior knowledge for this unit so for
this I doesnt take a long time to teach them as a new thing or topic. While, the
student's had a information about the time of the day but in Arabic language So, for
this, I taught them the time of the day in the English language which they are
morning, afternoon and night. Also, the student's had been able to telling time by
linked to daily routine. For example, they went to the school at 7:30 o'clock. As well
as they learn more about the words and understand how to write a sentence in the
simple present tense. So, they been able to speak orally about their daily routine but
they took a long time to understand how to write a sentence in simple present tense.
Moreover, I took a long time to taught the student's about the articles of clothes, that
they have to remember the words and to do the dictation every day. Besides, I took
two weeks to finishing this unit. Moreover, I had one week to covers and reviews

everything before the summative assessment. Well, this assessment is one test that
included many questions for this unit. I did this test by the end of the unit to assessing
and monitoring the students understanding. "Frequent monitoring of student progress
to a determined goal and performance level results in higher achievement for students,
particularly when teachers use the data collected to inform their instructional
practices."(Stecker, 2005). Linked to teaching philosophy, I believe this assessment
give me a reflective of the student's understanding during learning process.
