Observation Task 3: Mapping Environments: The

Learning
Environment
Focus: The learning environment.
Objective:
For student teachers to map the learning environment that exists in the
classroom including the layout of the seated area and learning centres.

Make a sketch of the classroom and identify the function of


each area.

Procedure:
Draw a map of the learning environment within the classroom and list the
functions of each of the activity areas. If possible take photographs of the
classroom including displays on the wall.

Examples:
Area
Water area
Quit reading area
Drama area
Art area
Cubes area
Discovery area

Function
Washing art equipment/organizing art
activities
Organize books and reading material
Acting \ wearing act clothes
Coloring \ drawing \ organize the activities
Try to make buildings with cubes and blocks
Discover small things and senses
