Course Description: This course is designed to give students a quick
run through of some desktop publishing. The course will work through
various tools within the free web application Pixlr to create designs and
complete course work. This class will be a weeklong course so it will be
a altered to fit the week long criteria. You will not create huge projects,
but will pick up the necessary skills to begin to progress on your own.

1. Opening the browser

b. What is a good design to you.
c. Opening Pixlr
2. Opening a canvas in Pixlr
a. Changing Canvas size
b. Free Transform
c. Shapes
d. LAYERS
e. Text tool
3. Photo with shapes and text (Graduation Announcement)
a. Opening a photo as background
b. Opening photo as layer
c. Gradient layers
d. Opacity in shapes
e. Effects
4. Lasso tool project
a. Opening a PXD file
b. Lasso tool
i. Free type and polygonal.
c. Minor editing of photos
d. 2 other tools.
Expected Course Outcome:
Student will show understanding of tools and good design. They
will be able to adequately use Pixlr to complete assignments.
Course Activities
Module 1: Welcome
Module 2: Getting Started in Pixlr
Module 3: Photo with shapes and text (Publishing project one)
I opted to do a graduation announcement because it is
something you all can do to save a little money when if you
are finishing up the course or for when you do. I will accept
other forms that I touched on. Postcards, advertisements,
etc. You have creative freedom to create what you would
like as long as you touch on the use of all tools in the
module.
Module 4: Lasso Tool Project.
Assessment and Evaluation
Assessment will be given based off of project rubrics provide. Time
constrains and program constraints will be taken into effect.
NOTE: These projects will be based off creativity to a degree. Projects
will be graded for not only the required elements, but also to some
degree of creativity.
