Journals week 1

(21-2-2016 to 24-2-2016)
Day 1 (Sunday, 21-2-2016):
It was my first day in Teaching Practice at Al-Resalah school of science in Sharjah. I was so excited
to go and meet teachers and children there. I reach to the school at 7:27am since I want to be a
professional teacher from the first day. I meat with my MST. Her name is Ms. Huma and the
assistant is Ms. Bushra. They are so kind and friendly. I felt happy because they was excited to
have me with them. At 7:45am, I attend the morning assembly. During the assembly, they sing
the national song and do exercise. I think it is a helpful way to let children start their day in the
morning assembly because that will make them be ready for the lessons.
At 8:00am, I attend the first lesson, which was about English. The teacher gave them many
activities during the circle time. She used different strategies to manage children behavior. For
example, she used a stop sign in order to make children stop talking and listen to her. I think this
is a good strategy to apply with children since it shows positive results on the children. They
automatically stop talking and listen to the teacher.
After the lesson, I sat with my MST. We talked about my roles and the things that I have to do
during this month. We decided on the days that I would be teaching which made me more
comfortable. I knew what is expect from me to do.
Day 2 (Monday, 22-2-2016):
It was my second day in Al-Resalah school of science. I was glad that all teachers and the principle
recognize me as a teacher who is trainee for the whole mouth. I reached there at 7:11am waiting
for the kids to greet them. at 8:45am, I arranged children in a 2 lines which are one for boys and
one for girls in order to go to the morning assembly in an organize way.
After finishing the morning assembly, at 8:00AM, I observe my MST with her students when they
were in the circle time. She is a professional teacher. She knew how to control and manage the
classroom. She was teaching them about the new unit, which called food from farm. She used
different learning style such as visual, kinesthetic, verbal and auditory. I like her way in teaching
since all children were happy and excited to participate. Even the special need boy who named
Essa was naughty but he was participating with her when she asked them questions.
During the activities time, I went to support children. Their work is to deal with the tasks that are
in the book. Therefore, I walk around and ask them cognitive questions in order to enhance their
thinking aspect and language when they will respond to me.
After that, I sat with my MST to discuss about my teaching performance for children. Therefore,
we decided that next week once the children recognize me well, I would start teaching them. for
tomorrow, she said for me to prepare about science activity which is about the covering of the
animals.

Day 3 (Tuesday, 23-2-2016):

On Tuesday, I went to school in the early morning in order to prepare my materials for my science
lesson before children arrive. I prepared all my materials in the classroom. Then, children start to
came in the school so I greet them and ask them to make line in order to go to the assembly
morning.
After the assembly morning, we went back to the classroom and I start teaching the lesson. I
taught a lesson about the covering of the animals and I felt that it went very successful because
children learn, participate and enjoy. After the lesson, I sat with my MST in order to get her
feedback about my very first lesson during this TP. My MST told me that my management need
to be improve because children were so excited to participate with my activities so I lose the
control. She said that next time I need to use more management strategies which Im trying to
apply them in my next lesson such as clapping hands, praising and turning the light on and off in
order to make them quite and listen to me.
Day 4 (Wednesday, 24-2-2016):
On the last day of my first day on TP, I went to school in the morning. I meet my MST and she had
activities for children about math. Thus, I went to help her in organizing the materials for the
lesson. Through this experience, I learnt that being professional is extremely important because
that will help us in organizing time, materials and teaching an affective lesson.
I attend the morning assembly. My children were so sleepy this day so I tried to make them feel
energy by doing the morning exercise. That made them feel excited because they saw their
teacher is doing the exercise with them. However, one students who have ADHD called Eissa was
very enthusiastic to do the exercise so he hit other children. I tried to interfere and deal with him.
So, I talked to him privately about his behavior but he didnt listen to me. Then, I asked my MST
to deal with him. Although I didnt know how to deal with him, at least I tried and next time Im
going to improve my way in dealing with him.
After that, we went back to our classroom. My MST teach a math lesson which was about
counting from 20 to 25. I help her in managing the children and preparing the materials for the
activities. It was very hard for me to work because they do not have areas. They only depend on
the book task which I believe that its not useful for children.

Journals week 2
(28-2-2016 to 2-3-2016)
Day 1 (Sunday, 28-2-2016):
I start my second week with energy. I went to Al-Resalah International School nearly at 7:15am.
I was so excited to meet and greet children. I went to the classroom and greet children. Then, at
7:50am, I make them to stand in the line and took them to the morning assembly. They sang the
national song and did some exercise to make them feel ready for the lesson.
After that, we went back to the classroom. My MST gave them and English lesson which was
about the letter b. I helped her in managing the classroom. Also, I noticed that the teacher always
shouts on the students in order to let them listen to her and be quiet. However, I didnt like that
strategies because I believe that children will not listen if someone kept shouting at the. They will
feel scared and unhappy.
After the lesson. I sat with my MST in order to decide what I will teach for tomorrow and after
tomorrow because my MCT Ms. Toni and Ms. Maryam will come to observe and assess me. I
showed my MST my lesson plan and she gave me her though, idea and suggestion to improve my
lesson. Now, I will start to prepare myself for tomorrows lessens.
Day 2 (Monday, 29-2-2016):
In my second day in my second week of teaching practice for this semester, I went to the school
in the early morning in order to make myself ready for the lesson. As usual, I went to the
classroom to prepare my materials for my lesson which was about math. I decided to teach
children the pattern because I had to follow their curriculum and learning outcomes for this day.
However, my MST called me and she told me that she will be late. So, I asked the assistant teacher
to help me in managing children before they go the morning assembly.
After the morning assembly, I start to teach math. I did the morning routine with them. During
the circle time, I review with them about the days of the week. Also, I let them to count from 1
to 20 and doing some excises while they are counting. I believe that it is very important to let
children to be awake with full of attention. Thus, they will learn easily and quickly.
After the lesson, I sat with children and I gave them different activities to do until my MST. I asked
children what they learnt and what they are doing. Then, my MST come and continued the lesson.
Day 3 (Tuesday, 1-3-2016):
Its Tuesday, which mean that it is the day that my MCT Ms. Toni and Ms. Maryam will come to
observe and assess me. Honestly, I was scared and nervous because children still didnt adapt my
teaching style and I was so scared that they will not participate and listen to me well. So, I went
to the school in the morning to prepare my materials. During the first lesson, my MST gave me
the time to prepare my materials and give some instructions for children before my MCT come

to observe me. I felt that it was a good thing to introduce the rules for children because that will
make them aware to follow the rules and do not misbehave.
The second period, Ms. Toni and Ms. Maryam came to observe me. I start my lesson by greeting
children and remind them of my rules. I was impressed because they listen to me and didnt
misbehave. After that I start reminding them of the days of the week, date, year, theme and the
alphabetical letter. Once Im done, I teach the lesson for them by applying some activities during
the circle time. After finishing teaching children, I ask them to go to do the differentiation
activities. Then, I went with my MCT to give me her feedback about my lesson. They told me my
mistakes and the think that I did it well. i will try next time to improve my teaching style in my
next lesson.
Day 4 (Wednesday, 2-3-2016):
On Wednesday, which is the last day on the second week, I went to the school and did my usual
routine which is greeting children and take them into the morning assembly. It was a normal day.
My MST teach for them a lesson about math which is the addition. I was impressed because
children were known to make a mathematical matters and count using their mental skills without
taking a long time. However, I still didnt like their book tasks because I think children are not
learning new things with the book. These children need more challenging activities in order to
improve their cognitive, language and physical skills. Honestly, I think they dont learn anything
from the book task. They just waste the time. In my next lesson, I will try to design some affective
activities in order to make them benefit from coming to school. I want to make a difference in
the school that Im in doing my TP.

Journals week 3
(6-3-2016 to 9-3-2016)
Day 1 (Sunday, 6-3-2016):
It is our first day in the third week of teaching practice. This week will be my last week. Then I will
be back to collage to continue some collage stuff. After the 2 break, I will continue my 2 week in
Al-Resalah International School. I went to school as usual in the morning, my MST asked me to
help her in doing a practicing for children because they will have a graduation party. So, I let
children stand in line in order sing their graduation song. They memorized the song very well.
After that, in the third lesson, I teach for children math which was about the rectangle shape. I
did for them many activities during the circle time and 3 different activities for the differentiation
activities. I think I feel confident now because I can manage children more than before. I used a
reward system by giving them a start sticker which support them to participate with me
positively.
Day 2 (Monday, 7-3-2016):
On Monday, I went to school at 7:15am. This day my MST told me to not teach anything but she
asked me to assess children by asking them questions about what they took. For example, I asked
them to writer the previous letters. Also, I ask them to write the numbers from 1 to 25 in order
to see whether they understand the lesson or not. From this experience, I believe that assessing
children is extremely significant because through it, you will know if the children are capable to
learn and move from this lesson. Also, its important for me as a teacher to plan my lesson
according to that.
Day 3 (Tuesday, 8-3-2016):
On Tuesday, I had to teach a lesson about science prepare my materials and all my stuff in the
classroom in the morning before children arrived the school. When I taught a lesson my special
need students who named Eissa was very active this day. He was screaming when I let them to
sing. Even he hit on children when I asked children to do some morning exercise before we start
the lesson. So, I let him sit away from other student. I let him sit next to me. As a result, he was
so quiet. I learnt a lot of how to deal with SN students during this lesson.
Day 4 (Wednesday, 9-3-2016):
On Wednesday, it was the last day of TP in this week. I reached there at nearly 7:30am. It was a
very normal day. My MST teach the lessons for children and I was helping her all the time. I help
her in preparing the materials for her lesson. I noticed that the teacher in Al-Resalah do not allow
children to go outside the classroom in order to learn and discover. They only let children sit on
the mat for a long time. I think children will not learn quickly through that way. I think children
need to interact with the environment surrounding them because that will make them feel the

sense of the world around them as well as they will learn the lesson instead of listing to the
teacher for the whole listen.

Journals week 4
(27-3-2016 to 30-3-2016)
Summary for the 4 days in week 4
After taking 2 weeks break, I went back to Al-Resalah International School to complete my
teaching practice in this semester. I was preparing for my Wednesday lesson because my MCT
Ms. Maryam will come again to observe me since I didnt do well in the first time as what she
said. I felt happy because my teacher gave me another chance to improve my teaching. This time,
I was so careful about thinking of different activities that can improve my teaching. On Monday,
my MST let me to do the morning circle time in order to practice. I believe that when I teach
more, I learn a lot because when I practice I make mistakes which help me to for to avoid these
mistakes.
On Wednesday, I went to school in the early morning and I went to the classroom in order to
organize my materials before the first lesson. My MST didnt let me to do my own story that I
prepared because she wanted me to do the school story. I was so angry and nervous because the
school that she gave me is so difficult for children I was scared that they will not understand. He
forced me to read it for children. I had no choice so I read the story for children. I feel that my
own story was targeting childrens language but her story was only focused on picture of animals
which is not related to the lesson. I was so happy when I saw children understand the story. I
changed it a little bit by asking children cognitive questions and I let them to participate with me
which will improve their language. Finally, when I finished teaching Ms. Maryam talked to me in
privet and she was impressed because this time I trough the lesson much better than the first
time. I was so happy because my effort didnt go for nothing. Moreover, Im so excited because
next week will be my final week in this school.

Journals week 5
(3-4-2016 to 6-4-2016)
Summary (Sunday, 3-4-2016 to Tuesday, 5-4-2016):
It is my last week for applying my teaching practice in Al-Resalah International School. I was so
happy since I will finish because I didnt like the school. They let children sit on the mat for long
time. through my observation, I think that children get feel bored easily because they need to
move use their body in order to release the energy. Another think that I didnt like in this school
is that they dont have areas. They depend on the book task to do the activities. Even the teacher
shows the answers for children before let them to do the book task alone. That will not let
children to be independent in the future.
On Monday, I taught a lesson and my MST was assessing me in that day. I did a really good job
and after I finished teaching she told me that she was observing my teaching skills from the first
day till this day. She said that I have make an enormous improvement since I was not able to
control the classroom. Even I couldnt handle with misbehaver children. But now, Im able to deal
with them in a positive way which made me really glad that even though I didnt like the school,
it was a helpful experience that I learnt a lot of things in very short time.
On Tuesday which is my last day in school, I went to the school and gave my MST a gift and the
children as well. they were really happy. They gave me a gift appreciating my support and help
during these weeks I where there. My MST gave me the evaluation paper as well. she and other
teachers made a meeting with us because we didnt attend any meeting. During this meeting,
they asked us about what we learn and what is our suggestion to make this school a better place.
I am pleased that I finished this TP successful and I hope I improve my teaching skills in next
semester and the future.
