Presentation Matrix

This document describes how a teacher uses various technologies like PowerPoint, Prezi, and YouTube videos to teach different academic subjects aligned with standards. Technologies are used to explain fractions, teach about probability and statistics, present on American Indian folklore and the Revolutionary War, research life as a pioneer, address environmental issues, and teach about rock types. Presentations include images, audio clips, and interactive games. They provide captions and written notes to support students with disabilities. Students also use technologies like PowerPoint and Prezi for projects on fractions, statistics, pioneer life, and environmental solutions. The teacher reflects on how creating the matrix expanded their understanding of using technology for differentiation and accessibility.

Students will use

about probability

Students will use
what they know
about fractions to
help them in this
project. One
example for what a
student could do for
the project is if 5/8
of the class is boys,
then what is the
probability of a boy

1. History

The teacher will

give a PowerPoint
presentation about
the Revolutionary
War and include
images of painting
made during that
time such as the
painting about the
signing the
Declaration of
Independence and
the Boston Tea
Party. At the end
of the
presentation,

Students will work

in pairs to come
with a problem that
is affecting their
community and
then come up with
a solution. After
coming up with the
lesson students
would then look and
right down the
correct system their
proposal would
have to go through
in order to be
implemented into
the community.

Evaluate and Create

Students
determine a
problem in the
community that
needs to be
addressed. Students
then create a
solution, design how
it would be
implemented, and
describe the process
the proposal would
go through in order
to be approved.

Students then
would share their
finding with the
class and the steps
it took them to
come this
conclusion in terms
of a Prezi.

Contribute to

problems.

Science
1. Physical
Science
2. Life Science

The class talks

about the negative
effects humans
have on the
ecosystem in the
rainforest and how
humans are hurting
the environment.
Students then work
in tables (4 people
per table) to come
up with a creative
solution that would
stop or curb the
effect humans have
on the ecosystems
in the rainforest.
Each table would

make a PowerPoint
presentation about
their solution. The
class would then
reflect at the end of
all the
presentations and
discuss the various
solutions being
offered to help
ecosystems in the
rainforest.

skills to plan and

Reflection: This matrix helped me realize how much PowerPoint presentations and Prezi presentations can be
implemented into the elementary school classroom. I knew that a Prezi or PowerPoint presentation line up with
technology integration standards, but I didnt know how useful they would be for helping with students with physical
disabilities. I did not realize until making this matrix that a PowerPoint or Prezi would be in many cases better than
an old-fashion lesson using a white board, because with a PowerPoint or Prezi I can write down what I am saying and
in that way students who are hearing impaired will not have any trouble learning the lesson. I also had not used
Prezi before this last week and now know not only how simple to use it is, but also how pretty it looks as well. This
matrix helped me expand my technology area in TPACK a bit, because now I can operate an online presentation
system that is more up to date than PowerPoint and may also keep my future students more entertained due to the
transitions that Prezi has.
