This document summarizes a student art assignment to create a painting with a strong social message inspired by an unconventional art style. The students chose to depict the theme of "The Fading Indian Culture" using Jamini Roy's flat color and varying line weight style. Their painting showed Indian culture on the left side fading and breaking apart on the right side due to westernization, as seen in changing lifestyles and women's fashion. Through this project, the students learned how to use flat colors and varying line weights effectively to convey messages through human figures, as well as the importance of teamwork.

ASSIGNMENT: In this assignment we were asked to create an painting that has a strong social message (engaging community by design). That painting had to be inspired by the style of any artist or any unconventional art style.
HOW WE APPROACHED: We decided to work on the
concept THE FADING INDIAN CULTURE. We chose Jamini Roys style of painting in which he uses flat colours with varying line weights. He uses human figures in his paintings.
HOW WE PROCEEDED: On the left side of the canvas we
tried to depict the culture of India and as we proceed to the right side we can see the slowing shattering face of Indian culture. This whole drift has paved way for westernization. The impact of westernization can be seen in the changing lifestyles of Indians. The women depict the cultural change.
LEARNING: We learnt how to use flat colours.
We also learnt that the varying line weights make a difference than using a line of the same weight. We also learnt the human figures can also be used in a brilliant way of conveying messages. We learnt TEAM WORK.
