ART APPRECIATION

MAKING A MARK - PAINT THE WORLD

ASSIGNMENT: In this assignment we were asked to
create an painting that has a strong social message (engaging
community by design). That painting had to be inspired by the
style of any artist or any unconventional art style.

HOW WE APPROACHED: We decided to work on the

concept THE FADING INDIAN CULTURE.
We chose Jamini Roys style of painting in which he uses flat colours
with varying line weights. He uses human figures in his paintings.

HOW WE PROCEEDED: On the left side of the canvas we

tried to depict the culture of India and as we proceed to the right
side we can see the slowing shattering face of Indian culture. This
whole drift has paved way for westernization.
The impact of westernization can be seen in the changing lifestyles of
Indians. The women depict the cultural change.

LEARNING: We learnt how to use flat colours.

We also learnt that the varying line weights make a difference than
using a line of the same weight.
We also learnt the human figures can also be used in a brilliant way of
conveying messages.
We learnt TEAM WORK.
