Hanging Tree

The Hanging Tree is a song performed by a


composer James Newton Howard featuring
vocals from American actress Jennifer
Lawrence for the 2014 film The Hunger
Games: Mockingjay- Part 1, the third
installment of The Hunger Games films
series. The song did mot appear on the
original official soundtrack album for the film
but was added during the digital re-release of
the official soundtrack for the film. The lyrics
were written by The Hunger Games author
Suzanne Collins and originally appeared in her
novel Mockingjay. This piece is a slow song
with a powerful message behind each lyric.
The song first begins with a man trying to get
his girlfriend to secretly meet up with him at
midnight, but the place where they meet up is
a hanging tree where a man was hung for
murder. The murders lover must have had
something to do with the killing because his
corpse called out for her to flee. Information

American rock band named Nirvana,
written by vocalist and guitarist Kurt
Cobain. The song was released as the
first single from the groups third and
final studio album, in Utero, In 1993.
Nirvanas record in DGC Records did not
release a physical single for sale in the
United States, Heart-Shaped Box
received much American radio airplay,
reaching number one on the Billboard
Modern Rock Tracks. This song is one of
my favorites beginning with a calm and
steady tempo and then climaxes into a
punk-like outburst.

I choose this song because it is a song that I


know very well and it is also one of my
favorites.

Sweet DreamsEurythmics
Sweet Dreams is a song written and
performed by the British new wave music
duo Euythmics. The song is the title track of
their album of the same and was released as
the fourth and final single from the album in
early 1983. The song became their
breakthrough hit, establishing the duo
worldwide. Its striking Music Video helped to
propel the song to number two on Uk Singles
Chart and number 1 on the Us Billboard Hot
100 . It was the first single released by
Eurythmics in the US. This song has a funky
up beat that will never get old. This song will
truly spice up 2016 in my opinion.

beats that it introduces in the beat and
because it was a personal favorite when I was
a little girl .

Young and Beautiful- Lana


Del Rey
Young and Beautiful is a song by American
singer and songwriter Lana Del Rey used for
the soundtrack to the drama film The Great
Gatsby. It was released on April 23, 2013 by
Interscope Records as the lead single from
the record. "Young & Beautiful" was cowritten by Del Rey and the track's producer,
Rick Nowels. Contemporary music critics
lauded the single, calling it "haunting" and
"somber". Lyrically, "Young & Beautiful"
follows a young lover's apprehension about
whether love can last. This song is more on
the romantic side with lyrics that tell a story.

I choose this song because I favorite Lana Del


Reys music and this song was composed for a
movie that I personally liked.

My Immortal- Evanescence
My Immortal is a song by American rock
band Evanescence from their debut studio
album Fallen. It was released by Wind Up
Records December 8, 2003, as the third
single from the album. The song was entirely
written by guitarist Ben Moody, with the
exception of the bridge, which was later
written by lead singerAmy Lee, and it was
produced by Dave Fortman. "My Immortal"
was included on their Ep release Mystary and
on the demo album Origin. The version
originally from Origin was later included on
Fallen. The single version of the song was
called "band version" because of the
additional band performing the bridge and
final chorus of the song. This song is on the
more dark and punk side of things.

I chose this certain piece because I have


experience singing the song and have
learnt some techniques to sing it better.

Carousel Melanie Martinez


Carousel is a song by American recording
artist Melanie Martinez, featured on her
debut EP, Dollhouse and her debut studio
album, Cry Baby. A music video was released
October 15, 2014. It was used as the theme
song for season four of American television
show American Horror Story.

I choose this specific piece because of the tv
show. This piece is very catchy and I liked the
childish feelings it gave off.

Try sleeping with a broken heart is a song by
American recording artist Alicia Key. It was
released as the second single (third in the
UK) from her fourth studio album, The
Element of Freedom . The ballad has been
hailed by many music critics as the best track
from the album. It marks a departure in Keys'
artistic production. This single was Keys' third
consecutive top 10 hit from The Element of
Freedom in the United Kingdom. It was also
the 99th most successful song of the year
2010 in the Billboard Hot 100.

I chose this piece because it one of my old


favorites and I used to sing it all the time as a
little girl

Over the Rainbow - Israel


Kamakawiwoole
Over the rainbow also known as Somewhere
Over The Rainbow is a ballad , with music by
Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y Harbrug. It was
written for the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz
and was sung by actress Judy Garland in her
starring role as Dorothy Gale The song won
Academy Award For Best Original Song and
became Garland's Signature song , as well as
one of the most enduring standards of the
20th century.
I chose this piece because I like the soft
melody and touching vibe that it gives
off
