Power System Dynamics Question Paper

This document contains questions that will be included on a Power System Engineering examination for a Master's degree in June 2012. It is divided into two parts: Part A contains 10 short answer questions worth 2 marks each about topics like synchronous machine diagrams, assumptions in mathematical models, system elements, governor and hydraulic turbine functions, stability classifications, infinite buses, automatic voltage regulator roles, power system stabilizer functions, and the differences between steady state and transient stability. Part B contains 5 longer answer questions worth 16 marks each about derivations of synchronous machine equations, per-unit analysis of synchronous machines, excitation system components and control schemes, mathematical models of governors and steam turbines, small signal stability analysis of single machine infinite bus systems,
