WhatIsDocumentManagementSystem?
1. DocumentmanagementsystemorDMSasitisknownisusedforstoringandprocessingdocumentsanddocumentlikeobjectssuchasCADdrawings,Materials,picturesetc.
2. WiththehelpofDocumentManagementSystem,theuserswillbeabletoviewthedocumentswitheasewithintheirSAPsystems.
3. InordertouseDMS,youneedtoimplementsomeCustomizingSteps.Fordetails,seetheImplementationGuide(IMG)underthefollowingpath:SAPWebApplicationServerBasisServices
KnowledgeProviderDocumentManagementService.TheIMGmodulescontaindetailsontheindividualCustomizingactivities.

a.UponexecutionofthetcodeCV01N,thefollowingscreenisdisplayedwhereintheuserhastomentionthevalueof'DocumentType',andifrequired'DocumentPart'anditsversion.DocumentPart
isonlymentionedwhenalargedocumentisdividedintomanypages.Bydefault,thesystemwouldtakeavalueof'000'fordocumentpartand'00'forthedocumentversion.
b.UponexecutionofthetcodeCV01N,thefollowingscreenisdisplayed,whereintheuserhastoenterthedescriptionofthedocument.DependingonthesettingsfortheparticularDocumentType,

Whenalargenumberofdocumentshavetobeuploaded,orwhendocumentsaretobetransportedfromalegacysystemtotheSAPserver,itisdifficultfortheusertomanuallydothis
usingCV01N.ThiscouldbedonebyusingBDC's,buttherecordingwouldbealittledifficultforsuchacomplextransaction.HenceSAPhasprovidedasetofBAPI'Stoavoidsucha
schenario.
