and inventions from the book as a group.
After reading the book, students will be able to give at
least 5 examples of inventions not mentioned in the
book as a group.
As a class, students will be able to fill out the first row
in the Amazing Inventors worksheet with 100%
accuracy
In small groups, students will be able to scan the QR
code with the iPad and match the inventor to the
correct row on the Amazing Inventors worksheet with
100% accuracy
In small groups, students will complete at least 80% of
the Amazing Inventors worksheet using the iPads
No summative assessment.

What is an inventor?
What makes something an invention?
After reading the book, What are some inventions that
were not in the book?
Hook/Lead-In/Anticipatory Set
Does anyone know what an inventor is? Someone
that comes up with a new object or way of doing
something.
Okay class, the other day I had this great idea. It is a
small light that you can carry around with you. It runs on
batteries, so if youre outside or if the lights go out you
can still see. I am going to call it the To-Go Light
because you can take it with you anywhere you go. Am I
the inventor of this? No, because it is not a new idea,
it is a flashlight.
No we are going to read a book about some famous
inventors and their inventions.

Transition
Teacher will read the book using the Elmo, students are
sitting at their desk.
To complete the worksheet, students will be put into
small groups and sit at the tables with their groups

After reading the book, the will ask students for
examples of inventions that they know of
Then, the teacher will lead the class in completing the
first row of the Amazing Inventors worksheet
Teacher will demonstrate using the iPad to scan the QR
code for Alexander Graham Bell
Then, teacher will show the students that they match
the photo on the website to the one on the worksheet
The teacher will fill out the other columns in the row for
Alexander Graham Bell
Providing the Independent Practice
The teacher will put students in small groups (3-4) and
let them walk around the room to scan the different QR
In the small groups, students will use the iPads and QR
reader to match the inventors to their correct row on the
worksheet, and fill out the rest of the worksheet
Transition
Once all groups have finished at least 6 our of the
remaining 8 rows the students will return to their seats
