PHP Children

Approximately 15% of children in Utah live in poverty, and 31% of these children are at risk of being stuck in poverty as adults. Poverty has negative impacts on children's education and development that can perpetuate a cycle of intergenerational poverty. Key factors like lower educational attainment, single-parent households, abuse, and lack of health care or food security contribute to this cycle. The non-profit People Helping People works to reduce child poverty by teaching job skills and helping single mothers find stable employment, with over 60% of participants no longer needing assistance and over 90% obtaining health insurance or stable jobs.
