Lute

Michael Schreiner repairs a theorbo for John with the guidance of Thomas Mace. Following Mace's instructions, they remove the strings and lace binding to access the interior. Some of the harmonic bars are loose, so they heat the lace with an iron to remove it easily. Next they separate the belly from the bowl carefully with a knife. All the loose bars are repaired by cleaning off old glue, applying new glue, and clamping with homemade trenchers. The repair is completed by following Mace's detailed directions.
