Project Self

Naroli Heredia created an informative website on gendercide over 16 hours for her senior project. The website aimed to raise awareness about gendercide by providing brief summaries, statistics, and perspectives on how aware people are and what can change. While the website related to and built upon research on bringing awareness to gendercide, limitations with the website platform required modifying plans. Naroli learned to manage her time and workload during this process, but found the topic too emotionally difficult to continue pursuing in her future goals.

1. Describe what you did for your physical project in at least 25 words. Include the total
number of hours you spent on the project. Please BOLD the number of hours.
For my physical project, I decided to create an informative website on gendercide. The website
involved brief summary of gendercide, how aware people are of gendercide, what can change,
and statistics. I spend a total of 16 hours on my physical project.
2. Explain how your physical product (project) relates to, supports and/or builds upon the content
of your research paper. Be specific and give examples.
My physical project relates and builds upon the content of my research paper because the sole
purpose of both was bringing awareness to gendercide. On my research paper I stated how
important it is to bring awareness to the atrocities that are happening to girls in these certain
paper, so for my physical project I created a website that could inform the public about
gendercide.
3. What is the most important skill you have acquired during the project phase, or the most
important thing you learned about yourself?
During the project, the most important skill I acquired was how to manage my time. I was able to
complete the website and not stress out as much as I initially thought I would be. I also learned
how to create a website, which is a skill I might even need since one of my choice major is
marketing.
4. On an emotional, intellectual, and/or physical level, what did you learn about yourself during
the process of the entire Senior Project here at Sierra Vista High School?
During the process my entire Senior Project at Sierra Vista High School I can say that I learned
quite a lot. On an emotional level, I learned how to prepare myself for the future. To relax and
take a deep breathe when things seem impossible to do, and to just keep trying. I also learned
how to manage my time, and prioritize. Senior year consisted of not only senior project, but also
college applications and AP classes. I learned to handle all the load of work.
5. Describe problems you encountered during the completion of your project hours and explain
how you handled/solved these problems.
One problem I experienced during the completion of my project hours was the website itself. At
the beginning I envisioned how my website was going to look, but I never realized that many
features on the website had to be paid for. I had to work around it, and use only the features I was
able to access.

6. If given the opportunity to redo the physical product/project, what would you do differently?
If I had an opportunity to redo the physical project, something I would do differently is try to
have contact someone who is an expert in the field of gendercide. This way I could have had
given my website more reliability.
7. Did your project turn out the way you envisioned it in the beginning or did you have to modify
your plans/vision? How did you adjust it?
My project did not come out as I had envisioned. I had envisioned a professional website, with
lots of detail to it. However, some features on Weebly were only accessible after purchase. I was
able to worked it out, and modify my plans. I decided to just make the website as informative as
I could, and straight to the point.
8. How does this project relate to your future goals? How will this area of interest continue to be
a part of your life? If not at all, why?
This project did not relate to my future goals, it seemed as something interesting and important
to focus on. The reason this area of interest will not continue to be a part of my life is because
dealing with horrible things that happen on this Earth would cause me to live disillusioned with
the world. During the project, as I research and saw videos I would get deeply saddened about
some of the things many of us are never aware of.

9. What grade would you give yourself for your project? Justify the evaluation of your grade in
at least 25 words, giving specific support.
I would give myself a B on this project. The project itself is good and gets to the point of what it
was meant to do. However, theres some things that could of made it better.
