Green Day:
On Green Day we had a coin trail in the shape of an ambulance and put all our money on it. We all dressed up in green
and had prizes for the greenest kid in each classroom. The winners were: Kakapo Leilani, Weka Rico, Kereru Ardell,
Tui Jahshanna, Pukeko Siahn, Takahe Matt. St Johns and I would like to thank you so much for your donations on
Wednesday. We raised $232.90.

On Thursday it was athletics day. The year 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 students went to Waverley Park School and Year 1, 2 and 3 students went to Salford. We
were grouped by our ages there were heaps of groups. 8 year old girls were at high jump first. I felt really nervous and then came the running. After
my race I felt sweaty and puffed. Our second last event was long jump where I felt annoyed because the sand got in my shoes! Lastly we went to
shotput, that was my favourite one. Aurora
On Thursday I went to Sports Day. We did high jump first where I landed the middle one. In the running race I made the finals it was hard! I was
against Ashlea and she was hard to beat. I felt excited about the day. I was happy after I got into the finals of lots of events.

Pukeko Science/ Technology Inquiry

Last week Pukeko tested out our
submarine down at the jetty!
We made it so we could see under
the water to tell kids where it is safe
to jump and the dangers to look out
for. We had to put sand in to it to
make it sink, we made it out of
plastic bottles so it didnt break up in
the water and we used lots of tape
heaps of tape! We did lots of
experimenting with types of tape
that would stay on our submarine.
We tried putting a camera in it but it
didnt work but we tested how deep
the water was. We had 3 lights on
the submarine that allowed us to see
under the water and see how deep
it was and what was in there.

Duffy Role Model Assembly:

At our Duffy assembly last week we had illustrator Scott Tulloch who talked
to us about how he became an illustrator. He showed us his new book I am
not a worm which is about a caterpillar who is called a worm by an iguana.
The cater pillar becomes a butterfly and the iguana returns and winds him
up calling him a caterpillar this time. They fight and the iguana eats the
butterfly!! It sounds awful but it is hilarious and he read it with a funny
voice.

Lily-Mae and Darnae

He also drew a portrait of Tupou looking lovely!

Paralympian portraits viewing

We were fortunate enough to be invited to take a wee bunch of kids along to the viewing of
the Spirit of Gold portraits featuring 12 of NZs most high profile para-athletes. We had an
interesting few hours at Lands End hearing about the training programmes, hearing the
story of one of the athletes, viewing the amazing portraits and being fed! Thanks for the
invite Sanfords! Sanfords are sponsoring the para-athletes and also sponsor KiwiCan at
school which is amazing.

Whole School Swim:

towards each other, we have decided to have a whole school fun

all walk down after lunch and everyone will be released at the end
of the day at 3.00 from the pool.
