Wizards are Coming to Town!
Attention All Students! Come enjoy this family event on April 23, 2016 doors open at 6:00PM. Watch the
Harlem Wizards vs The Brentwood All-Stars. A flier is available on the AMS website and in the AMS

Washington D.C. and New York City trip MEETING TONIGHT
7th graders, tonight is the parent informational meeting for the upcoming 2017 summer trip to Washington
D.C. and New York City. Send your parents with the invitation envelope to room 43 tonight at 6:00 if you
are interested in attending. We already have 8 people signed up and cant wait to have more!
8th Graders
Drum roll please. The theme for your upcoming promotion dance is.Party Under the Big City Lights.
Please remember that the promotion dance is a NON-formal event and fancy clothes, dates, and other
prom-like traditional are discouraged.
Current 7th Graders:
Dont forget, the process for picking your electives starts NOW! TA applications are available on the AMS
Elective Page and the student office (to access the elective page go to the AMS Website and click on the
Parents and Resources Tab). TA applications need to be turned in to the teacher you want to TA for by
April 5th. Late Applications will not be accepted. Year-Long Interest forms and Zero Period Health
Applications will be available April 11-15th. Remember to fill out a form for every elective you are interested
in and make it to all mandatory meetings. See the calendar on the elective page for dates and times. (4/15)
7th Grade Water Park Trip
AMS is sponsoring an End of Year for all eligible 7th graders at Brentwood Water Park on May 31.
More information will follow in Advisory the week of May 2. Tickets will go on sale before and after school
at the student office window starting the week of May 9 May 20.
Remember all 7th graders must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible:
* No more than 10 tardies during 4th quarter.
* No suspensions between March 29 and the activity.
* No more than 2 F's on the 3rd quarter report card
and/or 4th quarter progress report.
* The administration reserves the right to withhold
student participation in promotion activities based on overall behavior.
*Ineligible students may participate in a planning conference to develop a contract for success.
CJSF T-Shirts
CJSF Club members: Would you like to order a club t-shirt? AMS CJSF Club t-shirt order forms can be found
on the CJSF web page on the AMS website. T-shirts are $10 and order forms must be turned in to Mrs.
Kennealy no later than 2:50 pm on Monday, April 11th. Sorry for the quick turn-around but we want to get
our shirts by our April 23 Community Service Day. Please see the AMS CJSF web page for information on
two community service activities and notes from our April meeting.
7th Grade CJSF members
If you are interested in Club Officer positions next year, please check out the application process on the
CJSF web page on the Adams Middle School website. As a CJSF Club officer you must be available,
before/after school and at lunch various times during the school year. Students seeking CJSF office must
be a current 7th grader and have qualified for CJSF Fall 2015 and will qualify for membership for Spring
2016. The first five complete and qualified applications for each category will be accepted for the election,
first come, first served or no later than 2:50 pm, Friday, April 15, 2016 turned in online and to Room 47 or

8th Grade CJSF Honor Members
The community service application deadline has been extended to Friday, April 29 at 2:50 pm. Please come
to the CJSF meeting on Wednesday to hear more information on community service opportunities.
Washington D.C. and New York City trip
7th graders, Im happy to announce the kick off for next Summers Washington D.C. and New York City trip!
You should have gotten an invitation to attend our Parent Information Night on Monday, April 11th through
your Social Studies teacher, please share this envelope with your parents if you are interested in the trip,
or you can go online and register immediately to ensure you have a chance to attend this amazing, historic,
once in a life time trip! We have just 75 spots available and the they are sure to fill up fast! 4/8
Pennies for Patients
Pennies for Patients will run April 4-22. A little change can make a big difference! Please bring in your
donations to help kids get the cancer treatments they need! Our school donated over $5,000.00 last year.
Lets do even better and bring in $6,000.00 this year! The top earning class will get a pizza or ice cream
party. And, any class that brings in more than $100 will get a special banner for their classroom! (3/29-4/22)
ASB Informational Meeting
Do you want to make a difference on campus? Do you want to help with dances and the rally? Do you have
idea for making AMS a better place? Then you should apply for ASB! The informational meeting for ASB will
be at both Lunch A and B on April 12th in room 3. This meeting is mandatory for current 6th and 7th graders
who want to apply for ASB. If you do not come to the meeting you cannot apply for ASB. If you were
elected to student government, you do not need to attend. If you have any questions, please see Mrs.
Thornhill. (3/29-4/12)
April 11-15 is Crayola for a Cause Spirit week!
Monday is Purple for Leiomyosarcoma Awareness. Tuesday is White for Lung Cancer Awareness.
Wednesday is Lime Green for Lymphoma Awareness. Thursday is Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. Friday
is Crazy Multi-Colors for Rare Disease Awareness (4/17).
Walk Out on Cancer
Hey Yellow Jackets- do you want to leave school early on April 15th? What if by leaving early, you could also
help raise money for Pennies for Patients? And, what if you could get a smoothie at the same time? Well,
you can in our Walk Out on Cancer Event! Eligible students who are NOT on the non-activities list may
purchase a ticket to leave 8th period 15 minutes early and walk to Willys to get a smoothie! Tickets are
$10.00 and include your smoothie. The rest of the funds will be donated to Pennies for Patients! Plus, your
ticket purchase will count toward your advisory classes total donations! Tickets will be sold at the student
office window April 11-14th before and after school and we are only selling 100 tickets, first come, first
serve with signed permission slips. Make sure you get your ticket early! Once theyre gone, theyre gone!
Permission slips will be passed out in advisory and available in the student office
Walk TO School Wednesday is back!
Make sure you get a slip from your advisory teacher and fill it out ahead of time so you can just drop it off
and you dont have to wait to sign in! Well have students on both sides of American Avenue so no matter
which path you take, you can still check in! Dont forget to wear green! (3/29-4/5)
Marquee Birthday Messages
AMS has an electronic marquee located by the bus loop. You now have the opportunity to have your
parents purchase a birthday message to be displayed on the schools marquee on the day of your birthday!

Adams Middle School Quarter 4 Extracurricular Enrichment
There is no charge for enrichment opportunities, though supply donations may be requested.
Classes begin the second week of the quarter.
Enrichment classes are not drop-in classes. Students are expected to sign in and attend every week.
Beyond the Beats and Rhymes: Hip-Hop Dance Class with Ms. Clapp
This class is an introduction for students who are either just starting out or have minimal hip-hop experience.
Class includes an inside look at the history of hip-hop, a warm-up which concentrated on building stamina,
improving strength and flexibility, body conditioning and rhythm isolation. This class also focuses on
building a foundation of basic hip-hop movements, across the floor exercises
and short combinations to todays popular music.
Mondays Lunch A and B in room 53 (drama room)
Police Activities League (PAL) Robotics
Strengthen your collaborative skills as you create robots. You may attend one section only. Space in this
enrichment class is limited, weekly attendance and a PAL registration form is required.
Please see the session teacher of your choice for a PAL Robotics registration form.
Space in these classes will be filled in the order received.

Get your favorite photos off of your phone and
create a keepsake or even give as a gift for a friend
or family member.
Please bring the following supplies to the first class:
2-3 Instagram photos or several 4x6 or smaller
photos and Project Life pocket (available at
Michaels or Hobby Lobby)

Pinterest Projects with Ms. Calaway (4 weeks only)
Do you like creating projects or pinning projects
on Pinterest but don't always end up making
them?
Creative, communication, and collaboration skills
will be our focus as each class will involve making
projects
and allow you to bring your ideas to make as well!
A supply list for participant donations will be
created at the first class.

6th graders are you interested in being in Leadership? ANY 6TH GRADE STUDENT INTERESTED SHOULD
ATTEND THIS AFTER SCHOOL CLASS. Those 6th graders who were elected at the end of Quarter 1 as 6th
grade representatives will be required to attend as well.
