Practical Guide For Professional Conference Interpreters

This document provides a practical guide for professional conference interpreters with advice on maintaining high standards. It discusses various topics related to interpreting assignments in a logical order, beginning with the pre-conference stage. Key points covered include: - The differences between inquiries, options, and firm offers when being contacted for assignments. Accepting an option gives the recruiter right of first refusal while a firm offer creates a binding commitment. - The importance of asking recruiters pertinent questions about assignment details before accepting, such as subject matter, dates, hours, equipment, languages, documents, team members, fees, and payment terms. - Managing conflicting offers professionally by clarifying the status of each assignment and obtaining written contracts with cancellation
